TOPIK I Listening Practice Routine

A simple daily routine for beginner Korean learners who want to improve TOPIK I listening.

Listen for the situation first

In TOPIK I listening, many beginner questions are built around everyday situations: greetings, shopping, school, transportation, appointments, weather, and public places. Before trying to understand every word, listen for who is speaking, where they are, and what action they plan to do.

10-minute daily routine

  1. Review five beginner nouns and five beginner verbs aloud.
  2. Listen to one short sentence twice without looking at the translation.
  3. Write down only the words you clearly heard.
  4. Check the sentence and mark the time, place, object, and final verb.
  5. Say the sentence aloud once more with the same rhythm.

Mini listening checklist

Did I hear a time word such as 오늘, 내일, 아침, or 주말?

Did I hear a place word such as 학교, 시장, 은행, or 우체국?

Did I hear the final verb clearly?

Can I choose the answer without translating every word into my first language?

Pair listening with sentence building

After listening, rebuild the sentence from word tiles. This helps you connect sound, meaning, and grammar order instead of memorizing isolated vocabulary.
